Matthew Gierse’s practice focuses on traditional labor and employee benefit law, representing labor unions as well as union pension and welfare funds. Mr. Gierse received his J.D. from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2011 with a Certificate in Dispute Resolution. During law school he served as the Lead Articles Editor of the Journal of Dispute Resolution where he had articles published dealing with arbitration confidentiality agreements and waivers of an employee’s right to sue for statutory claims. Matt received a CALI award for the highest grade in Employment Law and the David Schumaker Labor & Employment Scholarship. He received a B.A. from the University of Missouri in 2008, graduating magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa.
Mr. Gierse is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Illinois. He is a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, where he was the Chair of the Labor & Employment Section 2014-2015, and the AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee.
